Although established less than a year ago and with a relatively modest number of members compared to other economic organizations, the Vietnam Business Association in Belgium (VBAB) has carried out numerous meaningful activities to foster economic connections between Vietnam and Belgium, as well as through Belgium to other European countries.
In support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s initiative to connect global importers and distributors with Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters — helping them overcome short-term challenges amid unpredictable global economic fluctuations and U.S. global tariffs — a five-member VBAB delegation, led by Chairman Nguyen Thanh Vinh, has proactively arranged an intensive schedule in Vietnam.
The delegation planned its visit starting mid-August, with meetings across the country from North to South — including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Phu Yen, Hue, Vinh Long, and Long An — to gather sufficient information and contacts for participating in Vietnam International Sourcing in Ho Chi Minh City from September 4–6, 2025.
The mission’s goal is not only to promote bilateral import–export activities and seek business partners in textiles, fashion, e-commerce, and macrobiotic food, but also to foster cooperation in ports and logistics to best support trade operations. In addition to traditional export items such as agricultural products, textiles, and handicrafts for the Belgian market, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh emphasized that Vietnamese enterprises should aim for higher value-added products.
In the context of the European market prioritizing sustainable and reliable trade partners, VBAB sees this as both a challenge and an opportunity for Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh stressed: “Europe is a reliable partner, and they expect the same from Vietnam and other countries in the supply chain. Vietnam is not only an exporter but also a potential market for European goods. Recent reforms are helping make Vietnam’s economy more transparent and sustainable.”
Alongside the efforts of other organizations promoting bilateral cooperation such as the Belgium–Vietnam Alliance, the Vietnam Business Association in Belgium, and the Belgium–Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BLCCI) have also identified Vietnam International Sourcing 2025 as one of their key economic activities in the last quarter of the year. The BLCCI’s Director General has decided to join the event, along with several members, to seek partners for Belgium and Luxembourg.
