Vietnam’s Textile and Garment Industry in Q1/2025: A Strong Start & Global Sourcing Opportunities

Chia sẻ

Clear signs of recovery

Vietnam’s textile and garment industry made a promising start in Q1/2025, recording export turnover of USD 8.69 billion, up 11.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Key markets such as the US, EU, Japan, and South Korea all showed positive growth, indicating a clear rebound in global consumer demand after a prolonged slowdown.

Many businesses have secured orders through the end of Q2, with some extending into early Q3. Industry leaders like Vinatex and Thanh Cong (TCM) posted impressive growth in both revenue and profit during the first three months. This momentum reflects swift adaptation, green production initiatives, supply chain agility, and a focus on high-value products.

The textile and fashion sector showed positive signs in Q1/2025, promising significant breakthroughs in the coming year.

Emerging challenges in a global game

Despite the upbeat start, Vietnam’s textile and garment sector continues to face multiple challenges:

  • Fierce competition from Bangladesh, India, Cambodia, and others with lower costs and preferential trade policies.
  • Pressure on pricing and tight profit margins, while demands for quality and speed of delivery continue to rise.
  • The growing trend of green supply chains, which require structured investments in eco-friendly technologies, recycled materials, and environmental certifications.
  • Shorter, more frequent orders, requiring optimized workflows across design, sourcing, and production.

In this context, adaptability, responsiveness, and global connectivity will be critical factors for Vietnamese enterprises to maintain their competitive edge.

Vietnam International Sourcing Expo – An opportunity not to be missed

Vietnam International Sourcing Expo is part of the trade promotion event series organized under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

To meet the demands of market diversification and global sourcing connectivity, the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo has emerged as a pivotal trade promotion platform. Organized annually in Ho Chi Minh City under the direction of the International Market Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Expo aims to link Vietnamese manufacturers with international sourcing ecosystems.

At the 2024 edition, more than 300 international buyers and 300 Vietnamese enterprises engaged in direct B2B meetings, establishing thousands of high-quality sourcing connections. Major global names such as Walmart, Aeon, Uniqlo, Decathlon, and Central Group actively sought new suppliers from Vietnam—particularly in textile, fashion, and accessories.

The Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 will take place from September 4–6, 2025, with an expanded scale focusing on four key sectors: F&B, furniture, textile & fashion, and logistics. This presents a significant opportunity for businesses to:

  • Meet face-to-face with global distributors, retailers, and importers;
  • Showcase production capabilities and export-ready products;
  • Update on consumer trends and global supply chain standards;
  • Seek new orders and establish long-term partnerships.

What should textile enterprises do?

International buyers consistently show strong interest in Vietnamese textile and fashion products at the Vietnam International Sourcing exhibition.

To seize opportunities from both market recovery and this premier event, Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises should:

  • Proactively register for trade promotion programs to enhance brand visibility and product exposure.
  • Invest in green production, adopt digital technologies, and automate processes to increase productivity and meet ESG requirements from major global markets.
  • Diversify export markets, with special focus on the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America—regions with strong demand for high-quality sourcing.
  • Strengthen domestic supply chain linkages, increase the localization rate of materials, and develop a proactive approach from yarn to garment.

Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025 is not just a trade fair—it is a strategic launchpad for Vietnamese textile enterprises to connect with global markets. Be ready to transform, and make sure you are in the right place at the right time to ride the next wave of global sourcing demand.
